The 2012 Port Douglas Carnivale has a new format.
During the 1st weekend of the Port Douglas Carnivale – that is from Friday the 18th of May 2012 until the 20th of May 2012 – the focus will be a food and wine festival.This will include the Longest Lunch, Palates of Port, Food Wine and a Taste of Port and the Seafood Extravaganza.
The Port Douglas Carnivale street parade – which is one of the most popular events will be held on Friday the 25th of May 2012. Held on Macrossan Street (the main street) in town is closed to traffic and becomes a buzzing boulevard. With non stop live entertainment up and down the street, a colourful parade that encourages all to participate, street theatre, fine food and wine on offer from many restaurants and food stalls.This year the Port Douglas Carnivale street parade theme is Heavenly Bodies.

Other events during the Port Douglas Carnivale include the Carnivale Club at the iconic Sugar Wharf, the Port Douglas Carnivale Golf Tournament, the sit down comedy club, airing of the quilts, the Port Douglas Carnivale Tennis Cup and the family fun Beach Day at Four Mile Beach.
With something for everyone to participate and enjoy the Port Douglas Village Carnivale 2012 promises to be a highlight of the year for the Reef and Rainforest.
