Whether you’re looking to rent your property or sell your property the presentation of the outdoor areas and garden are just as important as the residence itself.
This is especially true in Far North Queensland where we spend a larger amount of time living and enjoying the outdoor space and climate.
Regardless of the size of your outdoor area, the appearance is paramount when you are trying to attract a buyer or renter.
In Port Douglas, there are far more units on the market for sale and rent than there are houses, the competition is fierce, and any “outdoor area” is a bonus for buyers and tenants alike.
If your unit offers a space for buyers or tenants to enjoy the tropical climate, by entertaining outdoors or dining alfresco than this area needs to be attractive and inviting.
These days everyone is time poor and low maintenance gardens have become increasingly popular.
A garden however, is a living thing and where most people come unstuck is they put in what they believe to be a NO maintenance garden.
People let me tell you – there is no such thing!!
The best you can do for a very low maintenance garden is to minimize the amount of living plants that will require attention, whilst still creating the illusion of an attractive garden space.
Pictured below is the renovation of a typical small courtyard in a unit in Port Douglas.
The makeover took only half a day to complete and was done with minimal expense.
What was a dark small courtyard, featuring a neglected garden bed which comprised some overgrown foliage and a few dead plants has been transformed.
This property is looking to attract a tenant, and the garden bed has been revamped so that very little is required to keep it looking good, as landlords can not always expect tenants to maintain a garden.
The use of pebbles was intentional to keep the weeds down, a couple of Agave plants and a Yucca which we all know virtually require no watering to survive provides some much needed foliage.
The small garden bed is now light and gives the outdoor area an illusion of being spacious and an outdoor “room” with little maintenance necessary.
