Poseidon is extremely pleased to announce we have experienced our first Dwarf Minke Whale sighting for the season!
Poseidon is 1 of only 3 day boats to hold a special permit to allow our passengers into the water to swim and interact with these amazing creatures.
Poseidon was at the second site of the day when two large Minke Whales approached the vessel. Delighted guests put down their lunch and jumped into the water. Holding onto the float line, snorkellers had an experience of a lifetime when the curious Minke’s swam in close proximity.
See the attached a photo of a similar encounter last year, to show how this passive interaction works perfectly. Poseidon looks forward to many more sightings this season with new images as sightings become more regular.
