Some of the foodie events on at the Port Douglas Carnivale:
Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch. Friday 20 May from 11.30am-3.30pm or longer. Al fresco all along the lakeside at The Mirage Country Club, Port Douglas. Tickets are $140 per head including the 2011 Penfold’s Bin wines and others, plus beer, champagne and a 5 course degustation meal.
Food, Wine & a Taste of Port presents Casino Royale. Saturday 21st May from 5.30pm-11.00pm. Rex Smeal Park, Port Douglas. Tickets $45 each or $390 table of ten + online booking fee. Includes entry to gated area, bands and themed entertainment. This is a sellout event – early bookings recommended.
Seafood Extravaganza – Sunday 22 May 11am–5.00pm at Meridian Marina, Port Douglas. Free entry with live music. The event gives the opportunity for the local fishing fleet to showcase catches produced straight from the Coral Sea. Sample seafood delicacies served from working fishing vessels or tasting plates cooked to order from one of the many local Port Douglas restaurants trading on the boardwalk for the day.
Taste Paradise Food Fight. Friday 27th May 2011, 4.30pm-11.30pm. Rex Smeal Park, Port Douglas. $20 pp.($5 under 12’s/FOC under 5’s). Saucepans will fly during the 2nd annual Food Fight which pits chef against chef as the region’s finest chop, dice, and saute their way to success in a highly entertaining public event. Watch the waiters race and enjoy the range of food industry supplier, grower, food stalls, live music.
Audi Palates of Port – ‘The Glamour Event’. Saturday 28 May at Flames of the Forest venue in Mowbray Valley. $160 pp incl GST (including transfers to venue). Eight of Port Douglas’ finest restaurants and their chefs team up together for this beautiful event which fully realises Port Douglas’ love affair with alfresco gourmet dining.
