What is a flash mob?

It’s when a random number of people start dancing a choreographed routine with it gradually involving more and more people from the unsuspecting crowd. Just type in flash mob on You Tube to see how it all happens! or have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ3d3KigPQM or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao4DkbGbxl0
The Port Douglas flash mob will be happening on Saturday 28th May 2011 at the Family Beach Day, during Carnivale.
Everyone is invited to participate, it doesn’t matter if you can dance or not. The more, the merrier!
At this stage there will be two rehearsals, one for everyone, and one for trained dancers.
Thursday 28th April: For Trained Dancers
Bodies in Motion Dance Studio (upstairs from Mossman Newsagency)
4:00 pm – 6:30pm
This is a SPECIAL REHEARSAL FOR TRAINED DANCERS only (any age, but must be of an intermediate level or higher). This will involve learning some more technical choreography to be danced at the beginning of the routine, as well as the general choreography.
Saturday 7th May 2011: For Everyone
The reserve behind the surf lifesaving club, Port Douglas, 11am
THIS REHEARSAL IS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS of the flash mob. The whole routine will be taught at this rehearsal. Please bring along as many people as you can; young, old, and in between! It will be loads of fun. (Don’t forget hats and sunscreen!)
Hopefully we will need only the one full rehearsal, but if needed we will schedule more over the following weekends.
See you there!
